Tropical Dreams | Paintings of Hawaii
Aloha. E Komo Mai, and welcome to my website! I invite you to enjoy my paintings of old Hawaii, it’s proud people, familiar Big Island landscapes and wide variety of tropical flora and fauna.
Painting plein air (on location) has given me the chance to meet many of the people whose lives are associated with the places that I am privileged to capture with my art. The various locations that I explore give me the opportunity to interpret though my paintings not only the incredible beauty, but the feel of the breeze creating the sway of the palm fronds or the restful sense of a honu napping on the shoreline.
I love to paint, and I love to share my knowledge and appreciation of Hawai with one and all via my art. These are my tropical dreams ... made with paint brush in hand. Hawaii is a special place, and I consider myself privileged to be able to live here and share it with others.

ABOUT
I have been a full time Big Island resident since 1984, and can think of no other place that I'd like to call home than here. I appreciate this special place on many levels, however I've had the opportunity to work and play in and on the ocean for most of my life, and am especially driven to capture the grace and beauty of Hawaii’s marine life. I feel so fortunate to be able to have the natural beauty of the Kona Coast and it’s clear calm waters as inspiration for conveying the spirit of place, in both plein air and studio work. I also count myself lucky to be a full time Big Island artist these days, dividing my time between ocean and easel.
Whether I am trying a new technique in oils, acrylics or watercolor or simply learning to look at familiar methods through the eyes of a new teacher, I thrive on learning and playing with new ideas for my art. I hope you can share the sense of wonder and joy that I have while creating these pieces as you view my paintings of Hawaii.
